Le Mourier Swim School Logo  Welcome to Le Mourier Swim School

Established in 1980 under a 'bubble' in Bagatelle Road the school later transferred to the Bon Air Hotel.
After a few years at Bon Air the school moved again, this time to St John, where Maureen worked from 1985 to 2001. She then retired for a couple of years until she was asked to restart the school for younger children when the present St Lawrence pool became vacant.

Malcolm, her son, joined Maureen and now runs the majority of the teaching and business programmes, together with Maureen’s daughters Kim and Heidi and Malcolm’s wife Lyn.

As a group we teach all ages, from 4 months old to 8o+ years young, in either small groups or one to one.

In the pool from 4 months! Mum and Babes at Inverness Lodge Whatever your age the pool can be fun!

Our facilities offer a quiet and private atmosphere, ideal for the nervous adult, and for effective learning for children. The St Lawrence pool remains between 29° and 30° C. Please see our venues page for more details.

Our courses run for 11wks on a termly basis, following the school terms as closely as possible, including a half term break.

The holidays provide an opportunity to take part in our Intensive courses. These run over five consecutive days. These generally run in the morning of the school holidays, although they would be put on in the afternoon with sufficient numbers. Over the five days adults and children work through the course achieving half a full terms work in one week. These courses run at both pools and also include Diving, Snorkelling and Water Polo.

Once the children become proficient in the small pool at Inverness Lodge we move them up to the larger pool at Les Ormes to offer greater depth and variety of teaching, including diving and turns etc. Here the children become extremely strong and safe swimmers.

We also offer Rookie Club for the more able swimmers that teaches lifesaving skills, first aid and resuscitation giving a greater appreciation of the hazards of water and life skills which may help them or others in the future.

The older members of the school can also go on to teach should they wish to. At 13 years of age they may take the Student Teacher Certificate. This allows them to attain skill and knowledge to become a qualified vocational teacher after working alongside a fully qualified teacher.

All our staff are highly qualified and attend regular training; Malcolm has recently qualified as a tutor and can now teach teachers, lifeguards and First Aid Courses.

Recently the school has been inspected by the National Federation of Swimming Schools. This awarding body examines all aspects of private swimming school business as well as those of public pools. Following strict guidelines they check and evaluate all business and teaching procedures to make sure they meet current and future national guidelines. Le Mourier Swim School and it’s staff achieved this with Distinction.
